The Councilor for Commerce, Markets and Public Way, Juan Fernando Hernández, has attended this morning, at the MercaMurcia Food Logistics Distribution Center, the launch of two new parking spaces with charging point for electric vehicles.
This action is part of the company's Energy Efficiency Plan and is part of the general environmental management policy of MercaMurcia, which fully integrates the sustainable development of commercial activity in an environment that respects the environment, minimizing the impact on the same and involving in this objective, both the companies located in the Logistics Distribution Center, as well as the users who visit us daily.
To facilitate the development of this Energy Efficiency Plan, MercaMurcia is processing various grants called by the administration of the Region of Murcia regarding the promotion of energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy.
In this way, MercaMurcia aligns with the City of Murcia in the Local Electric Vehicle Strategy approved in 2017, the result of a participatory process that is part of the 'Clean Air' plan.
The objective of this strategy is to reduce the emissions of pollutant gases associated with urban activity and is part of the commitments acquired after the signing of the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, through which the municipality of Murcia will reduce greenhouse gas emissions at least 40% by 2030.
"Electric cars are an important environmental benefit for our municipality and therefore we work, as one of our main lines of action, in promoting this type of mobility. These vehicles represent an environmental commitment capable of restoring the air of our cities and minimize noise, "said the mayor Juan Fernando Hernández.
