The City Council supports the projects of five social associations to improve the quality of life of people residing in the municipality (20/12/2019)

The Governing Board has given its approval to the extension of the agreements that the City Council has with social entities: Hogares Nuevo Futuro Association, Habito de Murcia Association, Emmaus Traperos Association of the Region of Murcia, Murcia Hosts Association and Food Bank Association of the Segura.

The agreement approved to develop with the Association Hogares Nuevo Futuro is intended for the education of minors deprived of a normal family environment.

The objective is to provide them with an environment with the ideal conditions where they can live and develop fully, maintaining homes economically, with assistance to the beneficiaries and maintaining a social moral of coexistence and stimulating the sense of responsibility.

For this purpose, two homes in Murcia have been set up for long-term residential care for children and adolescents between 6 and 17 years.

The subsidy granted, which amounts to 30,000 euros, will benefit 15 children who will remain stable on the two shelters that the association has in Murcia.

Among the objectives of this New Future program, it is worth promoting the integration and adaptation of newcomers to the center, their emotional openness and facilitating the tolerance and acceptance of minors towards their peers, especially those belonging to other ethnic groups or cultures.

Relocation of families

The subsidy of 15,000 euros approved today by the Governing Board for the Habito de Murcia Association is intended for the development of the project "Intervention for the Accompaniment, Monitoring and Incorporation of Standardized Homes of Families in Situations of Infravivienda or Chabolismo" and contemplates actions aimed at monitoring of families that have already been relocated in order to guarantee the continuity of their social inclusion process.

Habito works in the promotion and personal and social integration of families, children, youth, women, the elderly and other adult groups at risk and social precariousness, through the achievement of accommodation;

the development of plans for the eradication of shanty towns or poor living conditions.

Volunteer Training

The Emmaus Traperos Association will have a municipal aid of 50,000 euros for its program of Comprehensive Care for Social and Labor Insertion in Employment.

Specifically, to develop the project "Psychotherapeutic Care and Promotion of Volunteering" that since 2005 has remained in force.

With regard to volunteering, it aims to obtain 45 volunteers in the program, its main objective being to promote awareness, incentive and training of volunteers, as well as the coordination of actions with other organizations, groups and institutions that allow the planning and multiplication of the activities carried out with the social exclusion collective.

Attention to convalescent immigrants

With the agreement signed with the Murcia Acoge Association, whose aid amounts to 100,000 euros, 30 convalescent immigrants will be served in two foster homes to contribute to their integration and care.

Its priority objective is to serve people, without domicile in which to carry out the necessary convalescence and treatment and without social support networks that help them meet this need.

With this agreement, accommodation and maintenance are provided to the people received, in the case of women, with or without family charges, while providing comprehensive and individual care for each of them, to whom medical care is provided and / or psychological necessary for recovery.

The agreement also includes the realization of training and learning workshops and a follow-up after the termination of the reception, orienting it to social insertion.

Recovery of food surpluses

Finally, the Food Bank of Segura will develop the project 'Help us to Help', with an amount of 20,000 euros, in which 112 associated organizations of distribution of the municipality will be involved.

Recovering food surpluses from society and redistributing them among people in need, avoiding any waste or misuse, is one of the priority purposes pursued by the Food Bank.

The project includes participation in food collection and classification campaigns, visits to charities and distribution organizations, as well as awareness campaigns for the promotion of volunteering and training and awareness activities in educational centers.
