The City Council and Terra Natura promote the integration of people with intellectual disabilities thanks to the project '12 months with you ' (06/12/2019)

CEOM users tour the municipal park and have had the opportunity to enjoy an exhibition of birds of prey.

"We want our parks and gardens to be meeting places and integration for all groups, as well as open learning spaces, without barriers or limitations and fully accessible," said Councilman José Guillén.

"With this activity we help people with needs to enjoy a unique experience, surrounded by nature," explains Pilar Torres.

A group of 30 users of the Association for the Integration of People with Intellectual Disabilities (CEOM) have visited the Terra Natura today within the program '12 months with you', an initiative of the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, as well as Rights Social and Family.

This visit also coincides within the week that International Disability Day is celebrated, which was commemorated last Tuesday, December 3.

The town hall and the municipal park promote this initiative aimed every month at a specific social group and with which it is intended to promote the integration of people with specific needs.

Thus, the Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén, and the Councilor for Social and Family Rights, Pilar Torres, have visited Terra Natura this morning to accompany users during their tour of the zoo.

Visitors have had the opportunity to tour the park with the help of guides and animal experts, who have shown them all the details and characteristics of each of the species, as well as being able to enjoy an exhibition of birds of prey.

"We want our parks and gardens to be meeting places for all groups, in addition to open learning spaces, without barriers or limitations and fully accessible," said Councilman José Guillén.

Social commitment

The '12 months with you' program organizes each month a different action aimed at a specific social group in the park's facilities.

Thus, they have already passed through Terra Natura We are All Campus, the Temporary Family Shelter Program, the Murcia Norte Social Services Center, D´Genes, Abamurcia, Assido or the FADE Foundation have already passed through the Terra Natura program.

This August is the turn of the Abraham Project and then, until December, they will be Adaner, Project Man, Project Activities with Children and CEOM.

“From the City Council we put all the facilities so that our spaces become environments for exchanging opportunities and social awareness.

With this activity we help people with needs to enjoy a unique experience, surrounded by nature, â€explains the Councilor for Social Rights, Pilar Torres.
