The University of Murcia adheres to The Conversation, the world's leading dissemination platform (22/11/2019)

The articles of academic and scientific dissemination of the professors of the University of Murcia (UMU) will be available on The Conversation España (TCES) platform starting this month, according to the agreement signed by both institutions.

With this agreement, carried out through the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC + i), the UMU joins another activity to continue disseminating the research carried out in order to reach them to an increasingly wide audience. .

The Conversation is the main worldwide channel for the dissemination of knowledge emanating from universities and in Spain it has the support of more than thirty academic and scientific institutions and foundations.

Born in Australia, it has editions in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Indonesia and Africa.

In addition, in 2018 it launched its Spanish edition that, in just over a year, has achieved 20 million readings thanks to the republication of articles in 170 Spanish-language media - El País, Cadena Ser, ABC, eldiario.es , etc- as Latin Americans Infobae, Ciper, Univisión-.

So, through this channel, it is intended to promote a permanent conversation between experts who write on topics related to their specialty and a community of readers who demand quality content.

Objectives and needs covered

From now on, university professors, researchers, postdoctoral students and doctoral students of the UMU will be able to write in TCES about matters related to their field of specialization.

In addition, the topics of the articles can be proposed by the editorial team of TCES, by universities and research centers and by readers.

With their participation in TCES, university professors and researchers will contribute to nurturing the public debate with a responsible, ethical, data-backed and knowledge-based journalism;

provide public opinion with greater clarity and depth of analysis on the main problems of society;

create an open space in the network to share best practices and collaborate in the development of sustainable and intelligent responses;

promote an independent forum based on proven data and oblivious to political or commercial deviations;

support and cultivate academic freedom to promote research, teaching, writing and publishing.

Likewise, their participation also favors the establishment of new networks among experts and makes them direct witnesses of the impact that the dissemination of their research has on society, reaching thousands of readings and reaching many readers interested in acquiring new knowledge.
