In relation to the news appeared today in some media, about alleged plagiarisms in the realization of three doctoral theses in 2012, the University of Murcia wants to report the following:
Instructions have been given to immediately gather all information regarding the facts reported and the possibility that it implies in some way our university
The co-director of the three theses now questioned, Professor José Luis Calvo Guirado, stopped serving at the University of Murcia in 2015, at his own request.
The period of time elapsed, seven years, limits and considerably conditions the set of measures to be adopted (an administrative infraction, had it occurred, would have been prescribed several years ago).
However, the University of Murcia undertakes to get to the bottom of the facts until knowing the whole truth
The administrative and quality controls currently required in our doctoral programs prevent any risk of plagiarism, since there are, among other controls, a rigorous verification of the content of doctoral theses through plagiarism detection systems
The University of Murcia is the first interested in knowing all the facts with absolute transparency to, thus, safeguard the professionalism of the thousands of researchers who have done an impeccable job in our university for over a hundred years
