The City Council and the UMU strengthen ties to start a process of collaboration on transparency (29/07/2019)

The Murcia Consistory obtains a 100 out of 100 in economic-financial transparency, according to the latest report of the Transparency International Spain organization, which evaluates the country's City Councils as a whole.

Murcia will be the first municipality in the Region to prepare and publish a Corporate Social Responsibility report, within the measures adopted by the Department of Urban Agenda and Open Government.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, held a meeting this morning with the Vice Chancellor for Corporate Social Responsibility and Transparency of the University of Murcia (UMU) and chair of the chair Corporate Social Responsibility, Longinos Marín, to initiate a process of collaboration between both institutions in terms of transparency.

The City of Murcia is already a benchmark in transparency at the national level, with a rating of 100 out of 100 in economic-financial transparency, according to the latest report written by the organization Transparency International Spain, which evaluates all the municipalities of the country.

Among the strategic lines of the Department of Urban Agenda and Open Government stands out the preparation of a Corporate Social Responsibility report, which will reflect the actions and management measures adopted by the City Council in transparency and accountability to Murcia society.

In this way, "Murcia will become the first municipality in the Region to prepare and publish that report," said Councilor Mercedes Bernabé, adding that "in Spain we are precursors of this type of measures, since only three municipalities of Our country has written a report on CSR in recent years. ''

Mercedes Barnabas also indicated that “we have proposed a series of initiatives to position ourselves as leaders in the field of good governance, governance and transparency,†and added that “we are going to start a collaboration in the field of CSR in order to be accountable to the Murcia society. "

7.2 in transparency

From the chair that he directs at the UMU, Longinos Marín prepared a report on transparency in 2018, in which the transparency of the municipalities of the Region was analyzed and valued, positioning Murcia above the regional average, with a score of 7 ,two.

In this document, the average of the 24 municipalities analyzed was 5.2.

Leading the way in active transparency and information

In the last Transparency of Municipalities Index (ITA) published by the Transparency International Spain organization, in 2017, the City of Murcia obtained 100 points out of 100 in the area of ​​economic-financial transparency.

In total, the 110 largest local governments in Spain were evaluated.

On the other hand, in the area of ​​active transparency and information on the Municipal Corporation, Murcia obtained a score of 97.6 out of 100.
