The City Council periodically reviews more than 3,000 scuppers located in the parks and gardens of the municipality to avoid flooding (28/07/2019)

Parks and Gardens ensures that these facilities are in perfect condition, eliminating the leaves and waste inside.

"These actions are very important in a city like Murcia, where torrential rains can cause significant flooding, dragging and flooding," said Councilman José Guillén.

The City Council, through the Parks and Gardens Service, is working on the review of more than 3,000 scuppers located in the green areas of the municipality.

The scuppers are the necessary drainage element to keep these green spaces in good condition, which are reviewed by the municipal technicians and the STV Gestión concessionaire.

These facilities, explains the Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén, “are strategically placed in the gardens so that the rainwater is introduced through them thanks to the slopes of the green areas, thus achieving that the water does not it accumulates and supposes an inconvenience for the thousands of neighbors and pedestrians who enjoy daily the thousands of green areas, parks and gardens of the municipality of Murcia â€.

Specifically in Murcia there are about 3,000 scuppers that are reviewed and inspected by members of the STV Gestión concessionaire, who are also responsible for their replacement in case of deterioration, breakdown or vandalism.

Among the spaces where there is a greater number of these metal scuppers is the Malecon, La Seda and in gardens of large districts such as Beniaján or Alquerías.
