71 educational centers host the summer schools in which more than 7,000 children participate (28/07/2019)

A total of 7,560 schoolchildren have participated during the month of July in the summer schools that have taken place in 71 centers of Infant, Primary and Secondary Education of the municipality of Murcia.

“In this way, the Department of Education and Infant Schools, in collaboration with the Department of Social and Family Services, thus gives its centers one more year for the practice of these training activities aimed at all schoolchildren during the holiday period,†highlights the mayor Belén López Cambronero.

In total, 126 summer schools have been held in 71 educational centers, of which 75 have been organized by the AMPAS, one by the Municipal Board of Javalí Viejo, one by the Association of Neighbors of Puente Tocinos and 49 by municipal services.

Of the latter, three have been organized by the cultural centers and 46 by Social Services, through the Child Care Project (PAI), as well as those organized by NGOs that are in the Caixa Proinfancia Network, such as Cáritas, Columbares , Gypsy and Copedeco Secretariat.

The council authorizes each year the use of school facilities for the completion of summer schools.

Through the Education Service,

AMPAS and the agencies in charge are set a deadline to see which schools will host this activity to support them with the necessary services and appropriate maintenance tasks.

In this statement, the council recommends that they organize summer schools in a single center of the area, neighborhood and / or district, on a rotating basis over the years.

This way of organizing activities, highlights Belén López, "also promotes social relations among schoolchildren."

Likewise, grouping summer schools "helps optimize resources, maintenance tasks, as well as the cleaning and concierge service."

"The AMPAS follow the suggestions given by this service and the coordination is increasing, so that by concentrating several schools in a single center has saved the opening of 52 centers, which means a significant saving of resources", concludes Belén Lopez Cambronero.
