Work on the second phase of pedestrianization of Alfonso X Avenue is progressing (25/07/2019)

The Councilor for Sustainable Mobility and Youth, Rebeca Pérez, has visited this morning the works of the opening of the west side axis of Phase II of Alfonso X El Sabio Avenue in order to check the progress of these works that began last week.

“At this time, the old pavement has been demolished from the building of the Multiple Services Building to the entrance to the parking lot.

In addition, they are concreting the foundations of the lampposts and channeling the services that cross the avenue, â€explains the mayor.

Also, in the part that is already open to traffic, it has begun with the installation of seven Elondo wooden benches, five with backrest and two without backrest.

The project contemplates the placement of eleven bins in different points of the walk.

"The works are progressing at a good pace and we will soon be able to see how this boulevard, located in the center of Murcia, is a reality and constitutes a meeting point for all Murcia," explains Rebeca Pérez.

Specifically, this Phase II covers an area of ​​8,217 m2 and 200 m in length, and involves the complete renovation of the pavement and the creation of a modern and uniform urban treatment space, completing the most important pedestrian itinerary in the city;

a reference axis that runs from the river and La Glorieta, Plaza Belluga, Trapería, Santo Domingo and Alfonso X to La Circular;

covering an area of ​​50,000 m2 (equivalent to 5 soccer fields).
