The Zoonoses Service and the Fire Service, with the support of the Local Police, have carried out a joint operation to prevent the nesting of pigeons in the casuarinas of the Vistabella neighborhood.
In this way, dissuasive elements have been placed in the cavities between the trunk and the branches of these trees in order to prevent birds from nesting in them.
Likewise, and as agreed in a meeting between municipal technicians and representatives of the neighborhood association and the Municipal Board, these dissuasive elements have been made available to the residents so that they can be placed on the windowsills.
The councilman of Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, has indicated that from "the City Council are doing all those actions to prevent the nesting and proliferation of pigeons in this neighborhood but we need the cooperation of the neighbors because if they feed the pigeons all efforts they are in vain The supply of food to animals on public roads causes an uncontrolled increase in the population of birds in the city, favors overcrowding and the appearance of diseases, in addition to being prohibited by the ordinance. "
This measure is part of the actions that are being carried out in this area to minimize the impact that these birds cause in it and which are, among others, the dissemination of explanatory leaflets, the placement of capture cages where requested, the talks information and the capture with networks in the perimeter of the neighborhood.
It must be remembered that last March cleaning work was carried out on the Vistabella bridge, where more than 400 specimens nested.
In this way, work was carried out to clean the bridge and install a special network to eliminate the massive nesting of birds in the lower part of the three bridge panels.
