The town of Nsimalen in Cameroon will have drinking water thanks to the contest 'Aguas de Murcia Solidaria' (16/07/2019)

FADE has received this morning the prize of the X edition 'Aguas de Murcia solidaria' that will allow them to perform different actions in the rural populations of the Mehandan area, Nsimalen locality in Cameroon, populations that will improve their quality of life conditions.

The Councilor for Sustainable Development and Huerta, Antonio Navarro Corchón, and the Councilor for the Elderly, Disability and Development Cooperation, Paqui Pérez, together with Murcia Water Manager José Albaladejo, have delivered the check for 12,000 euros to the representatives of this NGO.

The 'Aguas de Murcia Solidaria' Contest aims to guarantee the availability and sanitation of water in developing countries, and thus contribute to the reduction of poverty, all through the installation of hydraulic infrastructures that facilitate the supply of drinking water and sanitation, in those towns where they need it most, thus improving the quality of life of its inhabitants.

In addition, Aguas de Murcia assumes as its own the commitments with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), specifically nº 6: "Guarantee the availability of water and its sustainable management and sanitation for all".

Since the first edition in 2009, projects have been carried out in countries such as Mauritania, Tanzania, Colombia, El Salvador, Haiti, Algeria and Uganda and now Cameroon with a total of 126,000 euros.

Thanks to this contest, it has been possible to carry out the following projects in previous years:

In 2009, "Improvement of the conditions of access to water of 2,900 people (1,660 women and 1,240 men) of the town of Niévrare, in the commune of BoerToress, Wilaya de Trarza, Mauritania" by Assembly of Cooperation for Peace.

In 2010 the winner was Engineering Without Borders, with the project "Hydrosanitary Program of the District of Same: Reinforcement of the sustainability of water and sanitation services in the communities of Njora, Vumari and Ishinde, Tanzania"

2011 the winner was for the second time, Assembly of Cooperation for Peace with the project "Improvement of food security of the inhabitants of the commune of Djonaba, in the province of MaghtaLahjar, Brankna region, Mauritania", benefiting 2,521 people directly and 12,562 indirectly.

In 2012, Solidaridad Internacional, with its project "Improving the quality of life of Afro-Colombian communities affected by the armed conflict in the department of Cauca, Colombia", was chosen as the winner of the fourth edition.

In 2013 Alianza por la Solidaridad won the prize for the project "Access to water for the inhabitants of Las Casitas village in El Salvador".

2014 The project presented by FADE won the VI edition and is making it possible to bring drinking water to the rural populations of Mbleoa and Ayene, in Cameroon.

2014 - The FADE Foundation won the prize 'Aguas de Murcia Solidaria' for its project of access to water in the rural populations of the rural villages of Mbleoa and Ayene in Cameroon

2015 - The seventh edition was for the Humanism and Democracy Foundation that worked on improving access to drinking water in the community of Los Paleos, in the municipality of Les Cacaos in Haiti.

This project has guaranteed the right to potable water to 95 families and approximately 750 people, from the Los Paleos community.

2016 - Winner VIII edition of the "Aguas de Murcia Solidaria" contest.

FIRE FIGHTERS IN ACTION with the project "Installation of water tanks and construction of latrines" (Saharawi refugee camps) "Tindouf".

The direct beneficiaries were about 900 inhabitants.

2017- The NGO Rafiki Africa developed its project 'Integral development of a depressed rural area in Uganda' thanks to the prize of the IX edition of the contest
