The Municipal Road Cleaning Service under the Department of Sustainable Mobility and Youth, which runs Rebeca Pérez, through the concessionaire Ferrovial Servicios has begun cleaning the Canal de Los Molinos del Segura River, as it passes through the city of Murcia

The works, which will last for five days 5 days, consist of the cleaning of canes and residues found in this section.

Given that it is a historical environment of the city and of high heritage value, prior to the beginning of the proceedings, the urban furniture has been removed, the slopes have been prepared, the steps have been protected next to the Caballerizas room and the passage of small tonnage machinery has been enabled.

To guarantee the safety of pedestrians, the whole area has been marked, enabling a passage for the users of the museum since it is a street without traffic.

The surface to be cleaned is approximately 150 square meters, with the water level being about 2 meters below the stone edge of the street.

For the execution of the cleaning, suspension machinery is used by articulated and telescopic arm of at least 30 meters through which access to the cleaning area is given on the level of water sheet.

This will proceed to the cleaning of the encañizada with manual and mechanical means (brushcutter), on the surface of the channel, without removing the funds.

For the support of the staff and collection of materials, a boat is used that will also serve to clean the areas where the articulated arm does not have access, so the operators will proceed with mechanical and manual means to clean the casing .

Subsequently, the waste will be hauled with mechanical means to the container area, collected for later removal to landfill.

The councilor Rebeca Perez explained that "with this action we guarantee the health of the area, we avoid mosquitoes and bad odors and protect a historical environment of the city of high heritage value such as Los Molinos del Río"
