The City Council resolves flooding episodes in Era Alta with an investment of more than 150,000 euros (15/07/2019)

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, along with the councilor for Sustainable Development and Huerta, Antonio Navarro, visited this morning the renovation works of the sanitation network and the improvement of urban drainage carried out in the street of Carmen de Era Alta .

"This action involves the remodeling of the entire drainage system of the environment and responds to a historical demand of the residents of the district, solving the episodes of floods that occurred when it rained," said José Ballesta, who added that "the works they will be finalized before the month of September and represent an investment of more than 155,000 euros ".

The action will allow the evacuation of runoff water in three areas of the district such as Carril Pablos with Calle del Carmen, Carrer del Carmen with Camino Albadel and Avenida de Era Alta with Camino Hondo.

In this way, the drainage system will be optimized and incidents caused by episodes of heavy rains will be significantly reduced.

In zone 1, comprised by Carril Pablos and Calle del Carmen (Carretera RM-611), a new sanitation network will be installed and three connections will be renewed;

in Zone 2 (Calle del Carmen and Camino Albadel) the sanitation network will be improved and 6 connections will be renewed, and in Zone 3 (Avenida Era Alta and Camino Hondo (Highway RM-E2) a new sanitation network will be installed.

Once all these works are completed, the asphalting of a total area of ​​1,431 square meters will proceed.

The Action Plan involves the creation of 1,500 jobs

The action is part of the Water Action Plan of Murcia 2015-2020, which is endowed with a total of 32 million euros, of which 70% of the works are executed or are in execution, which means an investment of 21 million euros.

This Plan involves the creation of 1,500 direct jobs and includes a total of 63 projects.

62% of the actions correspond to works to improve sanitation and the remaining 38% goes to work in the supply network.
