The PSOE demands real transparency to prevent "Murcia from remaining the zero zone of corruption" (12/07/2019)

The Municipal Socialist Group has met this morning the detention of former councilor Cristóbal Herrero, for being considered the main suspect in an alleged plot of illegal adjudication of contracts in districts.

Before the news, the socialist spokesman, José Antonio Serrano, has called for "a real and definitive transparency is sought, it is a shame that Murcia continues to appear in the newspapers for influence peddling, embezzlement of flows and continued prevarication."

According to Serrano, these alleged illicit behaviors have normalized in the form of governing the Popular Party and "have made Murcia become the zero zone of corruption."

Therefore, the spokesman has asked Citizens to "stop the PP and not allow Murcia to remain in the hands of a team that does not work seriously and responsibly."

"It is not normal that in a Contracting Committee there are only members of the government team, which is the one that bids and contracts, and does not have anybody from the opposition, it is the perfect breeding ground to perpetuate behaviors such as those that have been taking place. until now, "adds Serrano, who warns that" we can not assume that the current government team continues with the practice in which controller and controlled are the same in the Contracting Committee. "

The Socialist spokesman also recalled that Herrero was responsible for districts for almost 20 years, which were characterized by the absolute majority of the PP, "however, the last mandate, with many governments in the districts formed by different political colors, was a new way of doing politics, leaving behind the lack of transparency ".

"We are horrified by this arrest, but at the same time confirms the suspicion that there is much to regenerate in Murcia and to end these vices it is necessary to exercise transparency with conviction and fully activate all control mechanisms," he insists.

For all this, maintains that Citizens should take a step forward and allow at least that regeneration reaches the municipal boards of districts because if left in the hands of the PP will continue to perpetuate these patronage networks.

The spokesman of the group has taken the opportunity to remember that "we have before us the constitution of the new governing boards of the districts and in many of them opens the possibility of continuing with these new governments that leave behind the opacity of the PP."
