The nine councilors and councilors of the Municipal Socialist Group presented themselves this morning to report on the priorities that have been set for the current mandate during which they will work to achieve quality and sustainable public transport, the renovation of public schools and the rebalancing of districts.

"Of course, we are not going to renounce the projects that we defended in the electoral campaign because this municipality needs a fairground to stop pressing such an emblematic area as the Malecón Garden, nor will we give up the regeneration of neighborhoods like La Paz and Barriomar, where we will insist on the creation of a technological and innovative business complex, "said the socialist spokesman, José Antonio Serrano.

He also assured that among the priorities are to improve and value the municipal staff, "which is sometimes set aside to incorporate outsiders, without abandoning our historic claim to increase this template with calls for Local Police and Fire "

Serrano, has clarified that "we will be very aware of all the development of the burial and recovery of our heritage because there will be all the power of the municipality of the future."

Also, the Municipal Group will bet to practice transparency and encourage participation, for which "we are working on a new website to view all our work and also so that citizens can make suggestions and proposals, which can also be done by telephone and in person. because our intention is not to lose the pulse with the street, that pulse that we have maintained during the campaign and gives us knowledge of the real problems ".

The spokesman has claimed the strength of the Socialist Group, whose election results "has placed us almost as the only opposition with nine councilors."

He added that "we are going to exercise a rigorous and responsible opposition, with which we will denounce but we will also propose because we can not allow another four years to pass to the boba soup".

After the intervention of the spokesman, the rest of councilors has explained the plots on which he will work.

Teresa Franco, who will lead the areas of citizen security and equality, said that "we understand that the safety of residents in Murcia and its districts is to improve the working, social and economic conditions of local police, fire and Civil Protection "and has opted to work transversally on equality in all plots, above all, achieving budgets with a gender perspective".

For his part, Councilor Enrique Lorca has highlighted tourism, which must be "an engine of fundamental economic development of the municipality", and has announced that it will take care of visiting the municipal sports facilities to check their status and their shortcomings and to meet with unions to know the situation in which the staff that works in the Town Hall is, "since we think it is quite improvable".

Councilor Carmen Fructuoso has spoken of the Pact for Employment, "since employment is one of the problems that most concerns the public, and therefore we are going to bet on the most vulnerable groups, whose unemployment rates are the highest in the world. municipality, as are those over 45, women and young people ".

Also, "we are going to demand that the Pact for Employment table be convened to design realistic and financed programs."

The mayor Antonio Benito has pointed out that, as a strong advocate of public schools, "I checked to bring my children who are in the same situation as when I was studying," so you have to improve them.

He also claimed that "all the technological projects of the municipality, which are costing significant sums of money, have a real impact on society."

Esther Nevado, who will lead the area of ​​social policy, has criticized first that this area has been divided between two councils of the government team, so it claims its preferential character in municipal management.

He has said that the programs that are being developed are not modern and, as an example, he has spoken about the elderly centers, which have remained the same for decades and in which the same services continue to be offered.

For his part, Juan Vicente Larrosa recalled that "the City will recover the powers of transport of districts, so we are facing the opportunity to adapt it to the XXI century, on frequencies and especially at a single price."

In addition, he pointed out the need to "bet on local commerce, quality that generates employment and bet on Murcia products."

Councilor Ainhoa ​​Sanchez, who will deal with the areas of decentralization and urban agenda and open government, has highlighted decentralization as one of the most important areas of municipal policy.
