Tram of Murcia, dependent of the Department of Finance, Contracting and Urban Mobility, directed by Eduardo Martínez-Oliva, has renewed its registration in the National Carbon Footprint Registry, adding the 'Calculation and Reduce' stamp corresponding to the year 2018, granted by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition.
This stamp is given to those companies that have registered their carbon footprint for a minimum of four years and that, in addition, achieve a reduction in emissions.
In this case, the seal is awarded for having cut the company's CO2 emissions by 16.4%, a figure that demonstrates the commitment to the environment of the entire company.
The "Reduzco" seal allows organizations to demonstrate their participation in the registry and also reflect the degree of effort undertaken by them in the fight against climate change.
The first step was to register its carbon footprint in the National Registry, which allowed certifying that Tram of Murcia annually quantifies its emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere as a result of the provision of public transport service with trams, and its commitment to reduce them with concrete actions planned.
The analysis covers all the activities carried out in the company, from the acquisition of raw materials to the management of these as waste.
The generation of electricity is the source of emissions in the case of the tram, which means that the emissions produced by the consumption of electricity are zero in the municipality of Murcia and are located in the municipalities of Spain where the different production plants are located of the electric power of the general network.
The awareness of the whole company and the different measures of efficiency adopted in Tram of Murcia have achieved the effect of reducing the consumption of electricity and, therefore, reduce their emissions associated with the production of energy in those plants where they are located .
