The University of Murcia and the Lorca Marin company signed a collaboration agreement on Wednesday that will allow the creation of the Lorca Marín Chair of Surgery, which will be the twenty-fifth chair with which the teaching institution will have.
José Luis Aguayo, initiator of the agreement and director of the Department of Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology of the UMU, explained that the purpose of the same is to respond to research, training and dissemination needs in the field of surgery through the participation of teachers, university students and professionals in the surgical sector.
Aguayo has also pointed out that the activities that will be developed under this agreement will be, fundamentally, three.
The first one consists in the creation of the 'Paschal Parrilla de Cirugía Prize', which will be destined to a scientific publication made in a prestigious journal that is included in the Journal Citation Reports index (JCR).
Secondly, conferences related to aspects of surgical practice will be held.
And, finally, it is intended to develop a branch of research and simulation for the learning of suture techniques.
On the part of the company Lorca Marin, Lourdes Sastre, managing director, commented that the field of action of this Murcian company focuses on material related to surgical practice, but that they are also working on projects related to radiotherapy and surgery. treatment and prevention of pressure ulcers in people with reduced mobility.
The director has expressed her gratitude to the University of Murcia and stressed that, through actions such as this, "companies are more than entities for profit".
The ceremony was closed by the Rector Luján, who has shown his gratitude to the Lorca Marín company because "alliances of this type strengthen us and make us walk together in exercising corporate social responsibility actions".
He added that, through these agreements, "we fill our institution with meaning, whose main objective is service to citizens."
