The CEUS is already a reality (20/05/2019)

José Ballesta visits the works of the Single Monitoring Center (CEUS), the brain of Murcia Smart City, scorecard and decision-making center of the city, which will offer information in real time to Murcia.

Murcia will be the first city in Spain in which Iberdrola will deploy the first public network for fast charging of electric vehicles.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, along with the Councilor for Modernization of Administration and Urban Development, José Guillén, visited this morning the works of the Single Monitoring Center (CEUS), the brain of Murcia Smart City, which will centralize the information that will provide more than 1,000,000 sensors and 300 systems that will be distributed throughout Murcia, becoming the decision-making center and control panel of the city, which will also provide information in real time to citizens about the traffic situation and parking, air quality or intelligent management of light and irrigation.

The works, which are being developed on the ground floor of the Abenarabi municipal building, will end this summer.

Within the Murcia Smart City project, the monitoring commission of the Smart City agreement signed with Iberdrola has also been celebrated, in which the City Council, the University of Murcia and the electricity company collaborate;

and that will entail the authorization of new points for fast recharging of electric vehicles over the next few months.

This initiative is a pioneer in Spain, as Murcia will be the first city in the country in which Iberdrola will develop its Smart City project, deploying the first public electric vehicle charging network in a large city.

Iberdrola has even used the project as an example of good practices in a meeting at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.

To develop the project, a joint work plan has been established that focuses on three strategic lines in order to be a reality in the coming months.

The first one is to achieve the objectives of electric mobility through the initial analysis of the locations of fast charging points for electric vehicles taking into account the existing recharging points, the parking spaces already reserved in the city for electric vehicles and the actions regarding parking reservation foreseen in the Smart City MiMurcia project.

To do this, the City Council will provide Iberdrola with the list of locations already analyzed, both the current recharging points in service and those planned to date.

On the other hand, we are already working on the definition of the data and indicators of the state of the electricity network in the city of Murcia and of supply in the municipal buildings for the interoperability of the information systems that allow us to manage an integrated scorecard in the initiative to build the Single Monitoring Center (CEUS) of the MiMurcia project.

Likewise, content, supports and training actions will be proposed for the dissemination of information, for citizen awareness and awareness in terms of energy savings and sustainable consumption.

For this purpose, different informative and training material will be adapted according to the target audience in each case, so that children, adolescents, women, seniors and Murcians in general know the different guidelines.

After this meeting, Iberdrola will present the technical feasibility of the locations identified by the City Council for the Refill Points in the municipality of Murcia, Iberdrola will provide technical information of the distribution network in order for the City Council to prepare the contract documents of the Refill Points to be available by the end of next September, a Smart City Dashboard will be put into service in order to provide real time information of different parameters of interest for Murcia and a proposal of teaching materials will be offered.

Technological partner

We must remember that at the beginning of last April the mayor, José Ballesta, and the director of Iberdrola Distribución in Comunidad Valenciana and Región de Murcia, Bonifacio Álvarez, signed the agreement that will allow the development and implementation of a model. Smart City 'for the city of Murcia, where Iberdrola joins as a technological partner to promote the project, providing the knowledge and information of its distribution network to take advantage of all the data produced by the city in its daily operation, favoring its sustainable development and greater efficiency in the use of its resources.

Murcia thus becomes the first City Council of Spain to sign this agreement, which will allow the City Council to incorporate the 'neuronal trace' of the electricity network to offer a better service to the citizen, saving energy and optimizing the service.

This will allow the City Council to incorporate into its intelligent platform 'MiMurcia' the so-called 'neuronal trace', that is, the plan of the electrical distribution network of the municipality, having accurate information on the location, capacity and consumption of the network throughout the municipality, being able to also foresee the reinforcements that are necessary to face the actions required by the implementation of the Smart City model.
