Podemos Equo: "It is incomprehensible that this City Council does not have among its priorities the fight against poverty" (11/05/2019)

Members of the candidacy of Podemos Equo for the City of Murcia have held several meetings with the aim of gathering the concerns and needs of organizations that fight against poverty in the municipality.

The climate has been one of understanding and empathy and the candidacy team has been able to verify that these needs are reflected in the program prepared by the training.

Members of ACCEM have delivered a decalogue of urgent measures that, in their opinion, should be taken by the administrations in order to tackle the challenge of managing to end exclusion and inequalities.

Their demands, summed up in ten points, marry "perfectly" with the anti-poverty proposals included in the program prepared by the candidacy.

In this sense, from ACCEM, they have asked Ginés Ruiz, candidate of Podemos Equo to the mayor of Murcia, to read and assume the measures included in the decalogue (https://www.accem.es/decalogo-de-propuestas- para-citizenship /).

In this regard, the candidate has listened to the proposals and confirmed that, in one way or another, "we have them in our program and is among our main objectives to end inequality and build a fair municipality in which all citizens are equal and have the same rights. "

On the other hand, Ginés Ruiz Maciá, accompanied by Clara Martínez Baeza, has attended one of the ordinary meetings of the members of the associations that form the EAPN.

There, both have been able to hear from members of associations such as Fundación Rais, CEPAIM, Gipsy Secretariat, CATS or Abraham Project, among others, the frustration and frustration they have, caused by the neglect of municipal social services towards people in risk of exclusion.

They have demanded, directly, the elaboration of an inclusion plan that strengthens the attention and assistance of the people with guarantee and efficiency, the elaboration of a plan that favors access to employment and training, a real solution for the problems emergency housing and a plan for the protection of children and youth.

Ruiz Maciá has declared that it is "incomprehensible that this City Council does not have among its priorities the fight against poverty because we have levels, more than 40% of Murcia and Murcia live below the poverty line, which we can not afford."

The candidate for Podemos-Equo has denounced "the void that the government of the Popular Party has done to the entities that fight against poverty and the total absence of policies that help people at risk of exclusion"

Both Ginés Ruiz Maciá and Clara Martínez Baeza have been totally sensitive to these demands and have committed themselves "to undertake real measures that fight against poverty, that reduce inequality and that allow people at risk of exclusion to return to lead a life normalized. "

They insisted, for their part, on the fact that the program "includes numerous measures to reduce inequalities and all petitions can be framed in our proposals to fight against poverty."
