The high-technology incubators of the UCAM and the Hospital of Fuenlabrada will collaborate in immunotherapy and regenerative medicine (21/04/2019)

The first projects will be developed with the group of Dr. Manuel Hidalgo and will be about pancreatic cancer and immunotherapy.

The San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia and the University Hospital of Fuenlabrada, recently named `best hospital 'in Spain, according to the' Best in Class' awards, sign a collaboration agreement that will allow the High Technology Incubators of both Institutions to develop projects disruptive that contribute to take an important step in translational research so that new therapies such as gene therapy or immunotherapy reach patients.

The agreement, signed by José Luis Mendoza, president of the UCAM, and Dr. Carlos Mur, managing director of the University Hospital of Fuenlabrada, aims to initiate teaching and research collaborations.

During the signing, the managing director of the Madrid hospital, stressed the importance of this agreement in which two very ambitious projects in the field of health.

"From the institutions not only generate knowledge for teaching but the results of our research are quickly transferred to the citizen, as there are patients who need new therapies that are not available to everyone and which, probably, may benefit "

In addition, the doctor has advanced that the first groups of the UCAM will work with Dr. Manuel Hidalgo in translational research in the field of pancreatic cancer and immunotherapy.

In this sense, Estrella Núñez, Vice Chancellor of Research of the UCAM, stressed that "it is very important for us to collaborate with health centers such as the University Hospital of Fuenlabrada that allow us to transfer basic research to the clinic. a very opportune moment since the Hospital already has experience in the development of its bioincubator and we are starting to create ours in the areas of health, sports and nutrition, so the sum of both innovation ecosystems will allow science to be brought to market".

They have accompanied the signing of the agreement, managed by the Office for the Transfer of Research Results (OTRI), Estrella Núñez, Vice-Rector for Research;

Ángel Pueyo, director of Research, Quality and Teaching of the University Hospital of Fuenlabrada;

Alberto Tomé, manager of the Madrid Foundation for Sports;

Alfonso Beltrán, general director of FIPSE and director of Innovation of ISCIII;

Juan Carlos de Gregorio, president of Clínica CRES and José Antonio Visedo, Economic-Financial Director of the Hospital de Fuenlabrada.
