This morning, in the Rector's Office of the University of Murcia, the General protocol of action between the UMU and the Research Business Association of the National Technological Center of the Conservation was signed.

At the signing ceremony, José Luján, Rector of the UMU, was present;

José García Gómez, President of the Business Research Association of the National Technological Center of the Conservancy;

Alicia Rubio, Vice Chancellor of Employment, Entrepreneurship and Society of the UMU, as well as Pablo Flores Ruiz and Luis Dussac Moreno, General Secretary of the Business Research Association and Director of the Research Business Association of the National Technological Center of Conservation respectively.

The agreement tries to establish channels for the joint realization of activities of advising, investigation, formation or of any other type that redunden in benefit of both parts, especially in the field agroalimentario.

Alicia Rubio, Vice Chancellor of Employment, Entrepreneurship and Society of the University of Murcia, commented that "today is an important day for the UMU, because we have met to renew a relationship that has been taking place for many years between a basic center for Research in the Region and the University of Murcia ", and advocated the continuation of those synergies that have historically been between the UMU and the National Technological Center of the Preserve.

The 'MIR' for the training of future managers of companies

José García Gómez, President of the Business Research Association of the National Technological Center of the Conservancy, said that "for the food industry, the relationship with the University of Murcia is fundamental".

García Gómez went back to 1964, time of the first initiative of collaboration between the food industry and the University of Murcia, specifically with the Faculty of Chemistry, and said that industry, primarily canning, has become an industry "very rich in nuances, in which research, innovation and development are priorities ".

He added that in the global world in which we live, it is a priority that we differentiate ourselves, adding that "the University is the spearhead in research, and the Technology Center becomes the application and development of knowledge that comes from the university. "

He stressed that this agreement is seen from the center as an opportunity to further strengthen these ties and assert a fundamental aspect for the university: "our pilot plant, which is a whole scale industry, allows applications that would otherwise be impossible perform".

José García explained that there are various areas of collaboration between the Center and the UMU: "we can be the MIR of training for future managers of companies, especially in the industrial and development, as well as in new technologies" , adding that "we have trainees who have access to all our facilities, a journal in which research articles are published, exchange and transfer of knowledge and access to UMU databases".

For his part, the Rector José Luján said that this protocol gives a new impetus to a relationship that began 55 years ago, and said that "it is necessary to value the things that have been done very well, keep them and continue to give encouragement" .

He stressed that the relationship between the University of Murcia and the regional agri-food sector has been enormously fruitful in the last 50 years, adding that we must work "with the illusion of the principle, guaranteeing a better future for the inhabitants of the Region of Murcia" .

"This is the example of collaboration between the world of business and the University, initiatives that contribute to the improvement of well-being for all."
