Tomorrow the new connection between the El Carmen neighborhood and the Infante within the DNA project opens to traffic (13/03/2019)

The new road, which connects the General Martín de la Carrera junction with Torre de Romo, is enabled after the demolition of an abandoned building that impeded road traffic and made walking difficult.

The itinerary that goes from the Pedro Flores garden to the Torre de Romo is being revitalized, with new accesses and sidewalks, parking spaces, graffiti removal and tree planting.

The urban improvement works of the ADN-El Carmen project are progressing at a good pace.

The initiatives that are being carried out, selected by the residents of the neighborhood, include the opening of a new connection between the Carmelite neighborhood and El Infante, after the demolition of an abandoned building that prevented traffic and hindered the pedestrian.

The new road, which connects the General Martín de la Carrera junction with Torre de Romo, opens tomorrow to traffic.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, who visited the works today accompanied by a group of neighbors, toured the route between the Pedro Flores Garden, where they are undertaking work in gardening, cleaning and vandalism, until their connection with Torre of Romo, where the action includes the construction of new sidewalks, the creation of a pedestrian crossing and the opening of new parking spaces on both sides of General Martín de la Carrera street.

In this way, this neighborhood avenue is being revitalized - from the Pedro Flores garden to the Torre de Romo - which was previously deteriorated, opening it with new entrances, extending the pedestrian areas, eliminating graffiti and planting more trees, such as those they are going to plant at the intersection between Buenos Aires Street and Martín de la Carrera, where the pedestrian area is also being extended.

ADN-El Carmen has the direct participation of neighbors and the collaboration of more than 50 associations and social groups in the neighborhood, who have put on the table a total of 1,500 improvement actions.

El Carmen, the most populated city with more than 23,000 inhabitants, thus becomes the second neighborhood to benefit from the ADN methodology, after the intervention carried out in Santa Eulalia, which had a majority social support and was a substantial improvement in public spaces known as' artists' neighborhood '.
