A group of professors from the University of Murcia will train Spanish and Irish judges in European Union Law (11/03/2019)

The training is coordinated by Juan Jorge Legs, Professor of International Public Law and International Relations of the UMU, and will have the participation of magistrates of the Supreme Court of Ireland, the National Court, and lawyers of the Court of Justice of the Union European

A group of law teachers from the University of Murcia, coordinated by Juan Jorge Piernas López, professor in the area of ​​International Public Law and International Relations, has received funding from the European Commission to train Spanish and Irish judges in European Union Law , specifically in matters of competition law and State aid.

The funded project, called NatJEUSAL, in addition to strengthening the training of national judges in European Union law, aims to foster mutual trust and cooperation among them, as well as contribute to the development and dissemination of best practices and tools for address complex national and cross-border issues.

The project foresees the realization of face-to-face seminars in Spain, Italy and Germany.

The training that will take place in Spain will take place in the Faculty of Law of the University of Murcia on May 30 and 31, 2019. The seminar, which is aimed at Spanish and Irish judges, will include interactive workshops and round tables that will address the role of national judges in the application of state aid regulations.

In addition to the group of professors of the University of Murcia, will participate in the teaching of this training magistrates of the Supreme Court of Ireland, the National Court, and lawyers of the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Subsequently, two other face-to-face seminars will be held at the universities of Padua (Italy) and WĂĽrzburg (Germany).

The project also foresees the preparation of teaching materials and the holding of a final conference, in June 2020, at the University of Padua, in which the speakers of the three seminars and experts of the European Commission will participate.

The funding granted for this project comes from the competitive call entitled 'Training of National Judges in EU Competition Law.
