City Hall begins Operation Asphalt in neighborhoods (21/02/2019)

The Councilor for Infrastructure, Public Works and Services, Rebeca Pérez and the Councilor for Pedanías, Participación y Descentralización, Marco Antonio Fernández, presented the Operation Asphalt in neighborhoods that begins today on Pintor Sobejano Avenue.

In total it will act in 71 streets, adding an extension of more than 25,000 m2 with a budget of 681,000 euros.

The project includes road repair works, surface painting, repaving and street paving, with the aim of eliminating any type of potholes, peeling, deformation and other damages guaranteeing road safety.

The most relevant actions by size and budget include the avenues Pintor Sobejano and Constitución, as they are two fundamental arteries of the city through which thousands of vehicles and people pass each day.

The first action is taking place at the intersection of Pintor Sobejano with Juan de la Cierva.

This remodeling has a budget of 23,000 euros and includes the modification of central island and pedestrian crossings to shorten the length and increase the waiting space for the pedestrian thus increasing their safety.

The pedestrian fords of the sidewalks that converge at the intersection, as well as the medians, will also be reconstructed.

The works will last until next week and once they have finished, the road will be agglomerated, work that will be done at night to avoid peak traffic hours.

Noteworthy also the performance in the avenue of the Constitution that will be carried out in the coming months and has a budget of 183,000 euros, an important action that includes the complete renewal of pavement including the recovery of all the blandones and the adaptation of the pedestrian fords to accessibility regulations.

The area of ​​action is 3,600 m2, and includes the pedestrian crossings of the confluent streets (Junterones, Lepanto, Dr. Marañón and Preciosa).

"The objective is to carry out actions in all districts of the city, with the proposals that have been received from the municipal boards, prioritizing according to the degree of deterioration of the streets." With this plan, in addition to getting some streets in perfect condition, we also improve the security of the neighbors. "

The City Council has invested more than 7 million euros to renew the asphalt and replace pavement in districts

In districts there has been an asphalt renewal, which corresponds to 54,000 meters of streets and linear lanes.

To this we must add 20,830 m2 asphalted by Aguas de Murcia after carrying out works, with an amount of 1,200,000 euros.

The council of Pedanías, Participation and Decentralization, through the Municipal Boards, has invested, in these three and a half years, 4,450,000 euros in renewal of asphalt and replacement of pavements, carrying out almost 2,000 performances in districts.

To this project must be added the Operation Asphalt, which has acted on 225 streets and roads, making a total of 43,343 linear meters, for an amount of 1 million and a half euros.

The total sum of the actions reaches 6 million euros.

In the neighborhoods of the city, almost 100 streets have been paved, totaling 527,000 euros and a total of 7,500 m2.
