The UCAM has held several solidarity dinners in which it has gathered about 2,500 people.
On Thursday there was the most crowded, the students, organized by the International Institute of Charity and Volunteers Juan Pablo II of the UCAM, both in Murcia and Cartagena, and yesterday Friday of the workers and members of the Foundation, which It also had the assistance of the sports teams and representatives of the Alma Mater Foundation schools (linked to the San Antonio Foundation).
José Luis Mendoza, president of the UCAM, presided over the dinner last night, which was also attended by Dr. Juan Carlos Izpisua, Professor of Development Biology at the University, and Alejandro Blanco, president of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE).
During the emotional ceremony, Mendoza gave a distinction to the members of the Foundation who will obtain retirement during this academic year.
Collaboration in volunteer initiatives
A part of the amount of the covered is intended to increase the important contributions made by the university throughout the year, but even more so at these dates, to entities that work with sick and needy people both in our immediate environment and at the international.
Among these initiatives is the formation of agents of charity, especially in Callao and Arequipa (Peru);
social insertion projects;
of volunteering in hospitals;
with prisoners;
of health assistance and promotion in Africa;
attention to minors and the elderly, against gender violence or support for pregnant women, as well as groups of people affected by various diseases.
As a novelty in this course, it is worth mentioning the celebration of the first dinner of students from the Campus of Cartagena and the Higher Institute of Professional Training San Antonio.
