The Unit of Scientific Culture of the University of Murcia (UMU) extends until December 22 the registration deadline to the contest that aims to promote the scientific vocation of students in the Region of Murcia.
The MasterChem initiative will bring the subject closer to the Primary, Secondary and Baccalaureate classes.
The participants will not receive cooking utensils as in the culinary program, but they will have to dare to carry out experiments without knowing the tools they have.
At the final gala, which will take place in the spring of 2019, students will have to solve a series of experiments with laboratory tools that they will not know until the time begins to count.
Before reaching the final, the teams, consisting of a maximum of four students and two teachers, will have to send a video to the mail of ucc@um.es doing and explaining their best experiment in mp4 format.
Once the selected groups are determined, during the month of January teacher training will take place by experts from the University of Murcia.
His role is essential in the contest, becoming the group's guides until the end.
Shortly before it arrives, they will have a first meeting with all the participants enrolled in a Chemistry Fair in which all the students will be able to present their experiments.
MasterChem was born with the aim of encouraging the chemical vocations of Murcian students, demonstrating the role of this science in our daily life.
This scientific contest has been funded by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) and has the collaboration of other institutions such as the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry through its territorial section of the Region of Murcia, the Faculty of Chemistry , the Academy of Sciences of the Region of Murcia and companies such as Tecnoquim SL
