Four students from the University of Murcia, awarded at the Archimedes contest of the Ministry of Science (29/11/2018)

Four students from the University of Murcia have seen their research work recognized at the XVII Archimedes University Competition, which is organized by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.

The contest awards the best research projects in all areas of knowledge carried out by undergraduate and master students from Spanish universities and has the collaboration of the Higher Council of Scientific Research, the Once Foundation and the Vencer el Cáncer Foundation and the Rey University Juan Carlos.

In this edition, 200 projects have been presented, among which three have been presented from the University of Murcia.

María Elena Mínguez Enkovaara has been the winner of the first prize of this edition in the area of ​​Social Sciences and Humanities thanks to her work The automation of the inspection activity of the Public Administration: legal implications of the paradigm shift in the digital context;

an investigation supervised by professor Julián Valero Torrijos.

Pedro Miguel Sánchez Sánchez and José María Jorquera Valero, currently enrolled in the Master's Degree in New Technologies in Computing, presented themselves to the contest with a paper entitled Continuous authentication and adaptive identification in mobile devices.

The development of this work, which has been supervised by Professor Gregorio Martínez and researcher Alberto Huertas Celdrán, has meant for its authors the special prize of the ONCE Foundation in recognition of the "best research work in any field aimed at improving the quality of life of people with disabilities, such as accessibility, educational inclusion and technical aids. "

In addition, the two students have achieved an accésit in the area of ​​knowledge Engineering and Architecture for their work.

He has also achieved a work entitled Implication of the D3 dopaminergic receptor in relapses in cocaine consumption, carried out by the student Francisco José Cárceles Moreno, and supervised by Professor Mª Victoria Milanés Maquilón.

This investigation will allow Francisco José, in addition, to make a stay in a center of the Superior Council of Scientific Investigations.

The Archimedes awards have a total of 104,500 euros, of which 100,000 euros are financed by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.

The winners of the first prizes have received 6,000 euros, while the second prizes are endowed with two thousand euros.

The special prize of the Once Foundation is an economic reward of 1,500 euros.
