The Plenary approves the award of the Gold Medal to the Folkloric Group Virgen de la Vega and the Arrixaca Transplant Unit (29/11/2018)

The Plenary of the City of Murcia, held this morning, has agreed, unanimously, to initiate the file for the appointment of various honors and distinctions to Mari Trini, Los Parrandboleros, the Transplant Unit of the Virgen de la Arrixaca Hospital and the Folkloric Group Virgen De La Vega.

The title of Favorite Daughter of the City of Murcia, posthumously, is going to be granted to María Trinidad Pérez Miravete Mille.

Mari Trini is recognized as one of the most outstanding Spanish singers and composers of the 70s and 80s. She has achieved great successes materialized in the more than 10 million albums sold in Spain and Latin America.

She served for decades as ambassador of the city of Murcia, extolling her virtues wherever she went and participating actively in their important celebrations.

It has also been agreed to begin proceedings for the award of the Gold Medal of the City of Murcia to the Folkloric Group Virgen de la Vega, since throughout its history it has shown a full and enthusiastic dedication in favor of traditions and culture. Murcia by several countries.

If the municipality of Murcia has one of the richest and most extensive folkloric manifestations of the entire national panorama, it is thanks, among others, to this folkloric group that has dedicated itself for 50 years to maintaining and encouraging dance, singing and gastronomy. of our municipality.

Similarly, it has approved the initiation of the file of the Silver Medal of the City of Murcia to Los Parrandboleros and Gold Medal of the City of Murcia to the Transplant Unit of the Virgen de la Arrixaca Hospital.

The Parrandboleros are an institution in our city.

His music, known and admired by all Murcia, has been a means through which to make known Murcia in the rest of Spain.

This musical group, which turns 20, exports the name of Murcia wherever it goes.

His altruism with causes of solidarity and links to the culture of our municipality make him worthy of this recognition.

The Virgen de la Arrixaca Hospital has become, for the third consecutive year, the national leader in organ donation and transplants, achieving a record of multi-organ donations, with 97 cases, and standing 20 points above the national average.

It is a collective work, which combines the great professionalism of the health staff with the generosity of Murcia, something that has endowed Murcia with national and international recognition.

The Transplant Unit of the Virgen de la Arrixaca Hospital, formed by professionals dedicated to the extraction and implantation of organs, acts with excellence, generating life and hope, one of the most supportive and rewarding tasks that human beings can perform.

The award ceremony will be held on the City Day, May 13, a celebration that commemorates the anniversary of the constitution of the Council of Murcia -the medieval antecedent of the City Council- by King Alfonso X El Sabio in 1266.
