The event, on the work of the HUERMUR Association and the PatrimurSOS Plan, is organized by the Castillo de Orihuela Association and the Asociación Patrimonio Base, both from the neighboring town of La Vega Baja.
The political scientist Murcia Fernandez, author of several research on the Huerta de Murcia, its heritage and landscape, has been invited by these entities to expose the work that takes place in the Huerta de Murcia in defense of cultural heritage
The work of the Association for the Conservation of the Garden and the Heritage of Murcia, HUERMUR, will be the protagonist tomorrow of a conference in the Alicante town of Orihuela, under the title "The defense of the heritage and landscape of the Huerta de Murcia".
The activity is organized by the Castillo de Orihuela Association and the Asociación Patrimonio Base, and will take place at 7 pm at the María Moliner de Orihuela Public Library.
The talk will be given by the Murcia political scientist Pedro Fernandez, invited by the aforementioned associations, and will deal with the work of defense of the heritage and landscape carried out by the Murcia association HUERMUR, as well as the PatrimurSOS Plan, which this entity has been developing.
HUERMUR and the PatrimurSOS Plan
The HUERMUR Association is a non-profit organization, with a recognized and extensive career of more than 10 years protecting the region of the Huerta de Murcia, its historical, landscape, cultural and natural heritage.
A wealth currently very degraded and in danger of disappearing.
Since 2007 he has carried out various tasks of denunciation and conservation, as well as awareness of the values ​​of the garden to ensure their protection.
This entity, as it is publicly known, maintains various administrative, social and judicial initiatives to exercise rights such as access to information, participation of the public in decision-making and access to justice in environmental matters (Aarhus Convention), transparency and public and environmental information, as well as protection, cataloging and defense of cultural heritage, among other lines of work.
The HUERMUR Association has launched the so-called PatrimurSOS Plan, formed by a set of initiatives for the conservation and protection of the cultural heritage of the Huerta de Murcia region.
PatrimurSOS includes several lines of action: such as complaints, requests for protection and recognition of environments.
In short, a series of measures for the real and effective protection of the historical heritage of Murcia and its garden, as well as actions for the claim and information regarding the protection and safeguard of Murcia's historical heritage.
Experience of citizen participation
The conference will present the example of this entity in terms of citizen participation project and example of associative activism in defense of the common values ​​of the Huerta de Murcia region, its heritage and its landscape.
Pedro Fernández, speaker of the conference, has presented several communications and posters in congresses and conferences of international, regional and local scope.
He has also given lectures on the heritage and landscape of the Huerta de Murcia, as well as on citizen participation and the youth association movement, an area in which he also has a long career, where he has held various organizational and representative responsibilities.
