The University of Murcia organizes, on November 28 and 29, the conference 'Immigration and Refugee: Building host societies', which will take place in the Hall of Degrees of the Faculty of Economics and Business.
During these days it will be analyzed how the different war, political, economic and environmental conflicts that currently exist are causing the greatest displacement of people in recent history.
To date, 68.5 million people have been forced to leave their homes in the world.
In this context of crisis and humanitarian emergency it is necessary to reflect on the characteristics of the reception, in its different spheres, in the receiving societies.
This activity aims to generate a space for debate and analysis on the situation of the reception of refugees or migrants in the Region of Murcia.
For this, four dimensions of study will be established (housing, employment, participation and education) that will be addressed from different perspectives and positions.
The main objective pursued is, from joint reflection and the participation of different actors, to move towards the construction of host societies and a culture of welcome.
The sessions are aimed at all people with interest and sensitivity for this subject, being of special use for students of degrees related to Sociology and Social Work, as well as professionals from the Third Sector or researchers and researchers of migrations and refuge.
