The UCAM reaffirms the cultural and artistic heritage of the Region of Murcia with a European project (26/11/2018)

In this first edition of the 'Refresh Week' will also participate artists from Italy, Romania and Slovenia in activities such as film, photography, dance, painting and sculpture, in the Campus of Jerónimos and the center of Murcia.

The Catholic University of Murcia launches the European project 'Refresh Week' with the aim of showing the artistic and cultural heritage of the Region of Murcia.

The Office of International Projects of the UCAM along with the Degree in Audiovisual Communication and Dance are responsible for organizing these days that will last all week.

'UCAM Refresh Week' is a multicultural event that is part of the European Refresh project, within the CreativeEurope category.

Estrella Núñez, Vice Chancellor for Research, affirms that the University seeks to give value to our authors and that they are inspired by our culture.

"Artists come from many countries and it's a way to show the world our heritage, culture can not have doors."

The vice-rector reminds that all students and researchers can enjoy the events that are organized, "it's like a week of open doors where researchers, teachers and students are invited."

Sefi Sánchez, assistant director of the Degree in Audiovisual Communication and director of the Digital Art research group, declares that this project represents an exchange of cultures for the UCAM and that "it not only enhances our cultural legacy, but also values ​​everything we have to offer from the audiovisual point of view and also from the renewal proposed by young people. "

Sebastian Gómez Lozano, artistic director of Dance of the 'Refresh' Project will also be present at the conference.

"We want that the students of the Degree and our company of Dance make a work of integration between the international artists and those of the UCAM".

During the five days of the conference, students and the public outside the University, will accompany international guest artists in the different activities where they will learn Murcian culture to create a series of works that will be presented at the closing ceremony of the event.

The activities on Tuesday morning will be held at the Filmoteca Regional de Murcia.

Manuel Sicilia, professor of the Faculty of Communication of the UCAM and Eugeni Osácar, director of Research of the University School of the Campus of Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy of the University of Barcelona, ​​will give two lectures on cinema and popular culture.

In the afternoon the activity of the conference will return to the UCAM where José María Alcaraz and Mariano Torregrosa, musicians of the APTTF group, will hold a workshop on introduction to music.
