The PSOE asks the mayor when he intends to fulfill his commitment by approving the Accessibility Plan so many times announced by the PP (21/11/2018)

The Socialist Group in the City of Murcia again ask the PP Government team the question of when it intends to fulfill its commitment to people with disabilities, executing the Municipal Accessibility Plan so many times announced and still does not see the light.

This is what Councilor Begoña García Retegui said after registering a question to the mayor, José Ballesta, and regretting that the aforementioned Plan will not be addressed at the Plenary to be held on Thursday, November 29.

The socialist mayor recalls that the Councilor for Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz, promised at the beginning of last October that in four or five weeks the request would be met, but that period of time has passed and there is no new news about it.

"Far from elaborating and approving the Accessibility Plan, which should already be in force due to legal obligation, the City Council announces new plans, such as Childhood and Adolescence, which we fear will remain mere promises."

What the Popular Party has to do is move from words to deeds once and for all.

"For more photos that the mayor and his companions do the reality is that we continue without a Plan that do have other populations such as, for example, Cartagena, a city that without many announcements has already started, after its preparation Consensual way with associations representing people with disabilities, "he explains.

The councilor of the PSOE insists that "violates the current law that required the approval and implementation of the aforementioned Plan in December 2017, which leaves very bad to the councilor of the area and the mayor as the maximum responsible."

Therefore, from the Socialist Group criticizes "the inability" of the team led by Ballesta to develop and approve the much needed Municipal Accessibility Plan, as well as an Ordinance, when almost three years of promises have elapsed.

This proposal was already discussed in the plenary session of January 2016 through a motion that was approved with modifications unanimously with the commitment that this year be put into operation.

A year later it was taken back to the Plenary, the responsible councilor committing some deadlines that she has far exceeded.

Eight weeks ago the councilor "sold" the approval of the Plan in a short period of time, but she has broken her word again.

"It is incomprehensible and unacceptable that the City of Murcia, which represents the seventh municipality of Spain, continue to treat people who are so sensitive and deserve another very different response," says García Retegui, who today attended as Ballesta and Ruiz presented the subsidies of the City council to the associations of social character of the municipality.

"It is good that they grant them such help, but they have forgotten the Accessibility Plan that is so necessary," he acknowledges.
