The City Council allocates 1.5 million euros to support a hundred third sector associations (21/11/2018)

José Ballesta and Conchita Ruiz present the subsidies of the City of Murcia to the social associations of the municipality.

The Department of Social Rights has increased its budget by 33.43% since the beginning of the mandate, from 22 million euros in 2015 to 29.5 million in 2018.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, and the councilor for Social Rights and Development Cooperation, Conchita Ruiz, today presented the subsidies of the City of Murcia to the entities of social character of the municipality of 2018, aids that have received a total of 98 associations and entities, for an amount that exceeds 1.5 million euros.

"Our social model could not be understood without the active participation of civil society, that is, the involvement of the third sector in actions aimed at guaranteeing equal opportunities for all the inhabitants of this municipality," said the mayor, who stressed that These entities are specialized in the attention of the groups of "Children, Migrants, Social Inclusion, Volunteerism, Disability, Seniors, Women and Family".

In addition to the aid to these associations, the City has increased a third budget allocated to the Department of Social Rights, with a growth of 33.43% from the beginning of the mandate to this year, from 22 million euros in 2015 to 29.5 million in 2018.

"The future of a city is the future of its inhabitants and, therefore, our Social Model prioritizes social cohesion and coexistence.

We consider essential prevention against vulnerability and social exclusion, but also ensure equality, the rights of children, the elderly and respect for diversity, "said the mayor.

Social inclusion receives the greatest contribution

Of the different sectors, Social Inclusion receives the largest economic injection, with 579,000 euros among the following thirteen associations: Banco de Alimentos del Segura, Fundación Secretariado Gitano, Cáritas, Traperos de Emmaus, Fundación RAIS, Asociación HABITO, ACEEM, Jesús Abandonado, Horb.

Social Reinsertion Homes, La Huertecica Collective, Rocamur Foundation, Abraham National Project Association, Community Development Institute.

The aid to the groups that work with the Immigration receive 309,000 euros, through 8 associations: Murcia Acoge, CEPAIM;

RASINET, Manuel María Vicuña Foundation, Columbares, Asociación murciana NERI, Rumiñahui association and FAAM.

Federation of African Associations of Murcia.

The associations of the disability receive direct aid in the amount of 292,000 euros, of which a total of 37 groups benefit.

Childhood follows, with 153,000 through 9 associations;

Woman, with 83,000 euros and 13 collectives;

Seniors, 60,000 euros and 8 entities;

Social Volunteering, with 29,000 euros and four associations;

and Family, with 21,000 euros distributed among 6 organizations.
