Parks and Gardens replaces some thirty trees in Ronda Sur to shade and beautify the area (20/11/2018)

More than 5,000 copies have already been planted in parks and gardens, which together with other actions, add a total of almost 10,000 new trees

"In addition to betting on the care of parks and gardens, we are aware of the importance of offering shadows to neighbors, especially in summer, when temperatures reach 40 degrees in the shade, very common in the climate of our municipality" explained José Guillén

More than 1,500 palm trees, poplars and fruit trees will be the lung of'Murcia Río' and 1,800 will be planted in the Green Trail of the Southern Cordillera

The City of Murcia, through the Department of Modernization of Urban Administration and Development directed by José Guillén, has replaced some thirty trees in Ronda Sur.

These specimens are large and have an aesthetic and environmental function in one of the most important avenues of the city.

The trees were planted on the Paseo Florencia, on an inadequate plant floor, which limited their development.

For this reason, the Park and Garden Service has emptied the tree-beds, placing topsoil, so that the 'Platanus hispánica' can grow in perfect conditions.

This is the best time to plant them.

The new specimens of great size, have been selected by technicians due to their high ecological value and to have no significant affections, being indigenous trees that adapt very well to our climate.

These trees are the same ones that embellish the Paseo Alfonso X in the center of the capital.

Specifically, they are located on the Paseo Florencia in Ronda Sur, and have been replaced at this time because it is the best time for the new copies.

The works have been carried out by a dozen people for two weeks.

"In this way, we bet on the maintenance of the green areas of the municipality, which are places of leisure, meeting and fun of all Murcia. In addition to betting on the care of parks and gardens, we are aware of the importance of offering shadows to the neighbors, especially in summer, when temperatures reach 40 degrees in the shade, very common in the climate of our municipality, "explained José Guillén.

Almost 10,000 new trees in the municipality

The plantation of more than 1,500 palm trees, poplars and fruit trees will be the lung of 'Murcia Río'.

Specifically, the Alameda del Malecón will be planted 500 new copies next December, among which are palms, and have been planted 23-, white, citrus and fruit trees.

These will be added to the 293 large trees that will incorporate the City Council to the new riverwalk, whose works are running parallel to the garden of the Alameda.

'Murcia Río 'will thus become the second environment with a greater plantation of large trees of the municipality, after the Greenway that connects the districts of the South, which in the coming weeks will be planted a total of 1,800 new trees along its 8.5 km of layout.

In addition, this year have been planted 5 olive trees in the vicinity of the Sanctuary of Fuensanta.

In the last three years, the City of Murcia has planted more than 5,000 copies in parks and gardens of the city and districts, a figure that adds to the 500 that have been replaced in forest environments.
