The University of Murcia has inaugurated on Monday the second edition of the course 'We Are All Campus' at the University Social Center (Campus de Espinardo) thanks to the co-financing of the European Social Fund and the Youth Employment Initiative, through the call for grants of Fundación ONCE.
The objective of this course is to provoke a change of mentality in the university community in relation to the effort for social inclusion.
In the training program, which will be developed in the next courses 2018/2019 and 2019/2020, the UMU will incorporate 15 young people with intellectual disabilities into their classrooms through the construction of comprehensive, accessible and personalized training itineraries.
Subsequently, students will do internships in companies with the idea that they are involved in hiring people from this group.
The results obtained in the previous edition make us expect a development of multiple specific competences among the participants, related to the improvement of their autonomy and social-labor inclusion.
It is also intended to develop in students a motivation for learning and responsible performance of tasks, fostered by the careful selection and personalized assignment of training practices.
The program is developed under the support of the Vice-rectorate of Students, of the vice-rectorate of Employment, Entrepreneurship and Society and of the vice-rector of Studies of the UMU.
It includes support from the Center for Employment Guidance and Information (COIE) and the Service for Attention to Diversity and Volunteering (ADyV).
In addition, social organizations related to intellectual disability such as CERMI Region of Murcia, Full Inclusion Federation, CEOM Association, Astrapace, Astrade, Prolam (Astus) and Fundown collaborate.
