NOW MURCIA asks that alternatives be studied to the rearrangement of traffic that "has triggered the circulation of vehicles in the narrow street San Nicolás, and that is causing important annoyances to the neighbors of this road and the zone".

Councilor Alicia Morales highlights "the discomfort that has caused the action of the City Council, executed last summer, which has led to an exponential increase in traffic on this street in the historic center of the city, which has seen multiplied pollution, noise and danger of walking on very narrow sidewalks. "

The municipal training has requested today in writing to the councilors of Traffic and Security, Lola Sanchez, and Urban Planning, Antonio Navarro, copy of the previous and subsequent traffic reports, if any, for the reordering of traffic in this area - the change of sense in the parallel street Riquelme has caused that San Nicolás is the unique access route to the center from the place of San Pedro.

Now Murcia, has also demanded that other options be studied for the situation that San Nicolas Street lives, "with possible traffic management alternatives that reduce and tend to eliminate the inconvenience to the neighborhood of the area."

Alicia Morales stresses that "it does not make sense that while all cities are working to reduce the traffic of motor vehicles in its historic center, in Murcia measures are taken that cause traffic increase, to the point of causing queues and traffic jams, in one of the narrowest streets of the city. "

The councilor also points out that "the narrowness of the sidewalks is another serious problem, since there are stretches that are not wide enough for wheelchairs, baby carriages or shopping trolleys to travel, forcing the use of a roadway that in addition to cars and motorcycles circulate numerous vans and trucks ".
