Students of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Murcia have reached the final of the IV International Medical Knowledge Contest (CICoM), which is being held this week in Mexico City.
The contest is organized by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and brings together 40 national and international universities.
This contest seeks to promote quality medical knowledge and education and involves asking questions to teams formed by six members of each university belonging to different courses.
The team of the Faculty of Medicine of the UMU, directed by Sergio Alemán Belando, is composed of:
Esperanza Alias Candel (1st year)
Laura Guirao Guillén (2nd year)
Irene Gámez Guijarro (3rd year)
Nicolás Rodríguez Albacete (4th year)
Carmen María Sánchez García (5th year)
Francisco José Cárceles Moreno (6th course)
To choose the team that represents the UMU, the medical school made a selection based on the academic record of the interested students.
This is the second time that the faculty participates in the contest, having been in fourth place in the third edition of it.
The contest questions cover topics of medicine in general, ranging from very basic aspects such as anatomy and physiology, to clinical issues of internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics and gynecology.
These questions are evaluated by a jury made up of doctors from different specialties.
