Works on the new lecture room advance in the Health Sciences Campus of the University of Murcia (14/11/2018)

The works of the aulario that the University of Murcia builds on the campus of Health Sciences advance at a good pace and at present the fourth floor is being completed, which corresponds to the roof of the third floor.

The building is located in the surroundings of the Arrixaca, next to the building dedicated to laboratories for research (LAIB).

According to the project of execution of the work, the building will have a useful area of 16,800 m2 distributed in seven floors (six floors plus a basement).

Its construction was awarded in September 2017 to the company Acciona Construcciones SA for an amount of 10,479,785.80 euros (VAT included), an amount financed by the contribution of FEDER funds from the European Union.

The design meets criteria of functionality, constructive economy and maintenance and responds to the teaching use with classrooms for theory and laboratories for practical classes.

In addition, the building includes space for activities typical of university activity: lockers, study areas and group work, etc.

The new classrooms will have 18 teaching rooms, 22 practice rooms, 16 group work rooms and 8 laboratories.

The capacity of the building will be for more than 2,200 students.

Its construction is motivated by the teaching needs for the transfer of health degrees to the new university campus.

It will be linked to the existing buildings on the El Palmar campus: a teaching pavilion, a laboratory building for research (LAIB), a departmental building (with offices and seminars) and a research support center (CEIB).
