First defeat in the Basketball Champions League (13/11/2018)

The UCAM Murcia CB visited on the sixth day of the Basketball Champions League at the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg German.

The Teutonic team, ranked 4th in the last edition of the European competition, came to the game against the academics without knowing the victory.

On the contrary, the university set did not know the defeat and arrived at Germanic lands looking for the sixth consecutive triumph.

With the dismissal of Tumba, Javi Juárez opted for Marcos Delía to complete the initial quintet -Kloof, Doyle, Rojas, Soko and Delia-, with which the Murcian team was looking for the sixth successive triumph in European competition.

An unsportsmanlike one on Soko and the success of Doyle from the perimeter gave UCAM Murcia the first advantages of the match (5-7 after three minutes of play).

The defense, key in the game Murcia, shone by his absence in these early stages of the game.

With Jones and Crawford very successful in the shot (16 of the 19 points of his team), Ludwigsburg left the score very even after the first ten minutes (21-23).

The second period began in a very positive way for the UCAM Murcia.

With Delia and Cate on track, the advantage increased to 7 points.

The Murcian team was taking advantage of the physical advantage it had over the interiors of the German team, which generated free throws for the outside.

However, the losses (8) and the success of MHP Riesen from the line of three put the German team ahead.

In the absence of 2 minutes for the break and 34-35 on the scoreboard, appeared the figure of Askia Booker.

Two triples followed by the North American were quickly answered by the Teutonic team to reach the break with maximum equality.

41-41 after twenty minutes of play.

Only a personal foul had committed the UCAM Murcia in the second quarter.

The defense, something lazy so far, was one of the pending slogans for the visiting team in the second half if it wanted to win the victory.

The level of defensive intensity of the university students had risen after the return of costumes.

A triple from Kloof put the 46-51 after three minutes of play and forced the local coach to call time out.

Crawford, with 13 points, was being a nightmare for the Murcian defense and managed to tie the game after two good offensive actions (53-53).

Delia, with 4 consecutive points, and Oleson, as game director, put sanity to some last minutes of madness and mistake in the two sets.

Finally, a great Soko mate put the finishing touch to a decaffeinated third period (58-64).

MHP Riesen came out with the knife between his teeth in the last period and, with a partial of 14-6, reduced the difference to match the match.

Javi Juarez, very angry with the game of his team, was forced to ask for time out.

The UCAM Murcia did not find released shots and was very disappointed from the staff (9/15).

Ludwigsburg, with Crawford and Martin very plugged in (both with 19 points), turned the game around 4 minutes from time (75-71).

It was then that the figure of Emanuel Cate appeared.

The Romanian pivot, with 6 consecutive points, became the dominator of the painting and the game and put two up the college team with two minutes left.

However, a great individual play by Crawford and a loss by Doyle to thirty seconds to the end put Ludwigsburg one up.

Finally, defeat by 81-80 against MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg in a very irregular match Murcia, where the losses (17) returned to be an insurmountable handicap.

Soko (15 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists) and Cate (15 points) the best in the first defeat of UCAM Murcia in the Basketball Champions League.
