The UMU celebrates the VII Hispano-Brazilian Congress of Research in Information, Documentation and Society (13/11/2018)

The Faculty of Communication and Documentation of the University of Murcia organizes the VII Congress of Research in Information, Documentation and Society next 14 and 15 November.

This congress is held alternately in Spain and Brazil and this year, for the first time, it will have two venues: the Complutense University of Madrid and the University of Murcia.

The congress will bring together professionals from more than thirty universities in countries such as Argentina, France, Peru, Portugal, Mexico and Uruguay, as well as Brazil and Spain.

In the organization of this academic event, the Embassy of Brazil in Spain, the Embassy of Spain in Brazil, ANABAD and SEDIC (organizations of Spanish Information and Documentation professionals), the Ministry of Culture and the ODILO company, specialized in electronic book platforms and digital libraries, among many other institutions.

In the next two days the thematic lines of the communications that will be exhibited in the Faculty of Communication and Documentation will be Information and Society;

Memory and Heritage;

Information skills;

Research and scientific publications;

Communication and Society;

and Information and Documentation Policies.

The congress began last Monday at the Faculty of Documentation Sciences of the Complutense University of Madrid.

Both at the Complutense University and at the University of Murcia the congress is organized by the departments of Library and Information Science and Information and Documentation.

The closing conference will be given by Professor Adela Cortina and will deal with poverty in our society.

Professor Cortina conceived the term "aporophobia" to refer critically to the rejection of people in a situation of poverty that occurs in our society.

National Prize of Essay in 2014 and honorary doctor by the University of Murcia, Professor Cortina will also be recognized during her visit to Murcia with the presentation of the book Ethics and political philosophy: Tribute to Adela Cortina.

Throughout its history, this seminar has promoted academic and scientific exchange between universities and scientific institutions in Spain and Brazil, consolidating cooperation and the established link.

These relationships favor mutual knowledge and create synergies that lead to joint research projects, teaching innovation, publications, mobility and excellence in research.

All sessions of the congress will be broadcast live on UMU's university television.
