Social Rights collaborates with FAMDIF to organize four camps and weekend coexistence in Almeria, La Manga and Totana (09/11/2018)

The collaboration between the City of Murcia and FAMDIF / COCEMFE will allow this year to develop two projects aimed at members of the association and their families, as well as professionals, volunteers and students, with the aim of achieving real equality of this group with the rest of the citizens, in a way that respects the principle of equality.

On the one hand, the "project of leisure activities and free time in vacation areas for young people with physical and organic disabilities" will offer young people who are part of the federation -especially those with reduced mobility-, leisure activities and time free to favor their personal autonomy and their self-esteem.

In this way, it is intended to compensate for the lack of public and private opportunities that are encountered when they try to access them;

and on the other hand support families, offering a space of respite for caregivers.

The proposal consists of the organization of four camps and weekend coexistence in Almería, La Manga and Totana, in which 85 minors and youth with physical disabilities will participate, to which will be added about 170 relatives who will be indirect beneficiaries to the that family respite will be provided.

On the other hand, the agreement with FAMDIF / COCEMFE will also allow carrying out an awareness project for the removal of psychosocial barriers in mental and organic disability, which aims to promote awareness and mentalization of society about this group, promoting positive attitudes regarding to the rights of people with physical disabilities, through the dissemination of information, coordinating the relationship of the federation with the local, regional and state media.

This plan includes a training course for 50 volunteers who collaborate in programmed activities aimed at all training cycles with talks, drawing contest, installation of the circuit of awareness of architectural barriers, and other awareness-raising events.

The direct users that the project can reach are estimated at around 8,000 people.

The amount of the subsidy amounts to € 20,000.
