The elimination of three container sites on the surface will improve the image of the San Esteban environment (09/11/2018)

The Governing Board has approved the project and contract specifications for the installation of buried containers in the vicinity of San Esteban, where within a few days Phase 0 will begin to be executed in the archaeological site.

This will allow, in addition to improving the image of the public road, eliminate the visual impact of traditional containers, reduce inconvenience with containers that are more comfortable to use and less noisy when unloading, and take a step further in the actions planned in the project of recovery of the deposit and adjacent streets.

Specifically, three currently existing sets with 14 containers are eliminated, and replaced by three new locations with as many underground ones.

Thus, the collection point on the side of the site, on Acisclo Díaz street, will be moved next to the parking lot façade, on the same street;

Portillo de San Antonio will be located a few meters ahead, behind the Bankia building, and Callejón Burruezo is installed underground in Madre Esperanza street.

The first two will have 5 units (two organic waste, one for paper, one for packaging and one for glass) and 4 in Madre Esperanza.

This action is part of the plan of the Department of Infrastructure, Public Works and Services, directed by Rebeca Pérez, to bury the containers located in emblematic environments, as is the case of San Esteban, where it is convenient to avoid traditional packaging.

Regarding the work, the preliminary reports rule out that archaeological remains can be affected, but in any case, the works will be developed with the indicated methodology and with the technical supervision of the municipal archaeologist.
