Murcia City Council explains its City Model in the Local Development and Employment Forum (07/11/2018)

The Councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, Jesús Pacheco inaugurated this morning the VI Forum on Local Development and Employment, organized by the University of Murcia, the Polytechnic of Cartagena, the Observatory of Rural, Local and Employment Development and the Association of Employment Agents and Local Development of the Region of Murcia.

Those responsible for the strategy of sustainable urban development carried out by the City of Murcia, specifically the European Programs service, dependent on the Department of Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, and the Department of Modernization of Urban Administration and Development , have exposed the main lines of work and operations integrated in it.

"Murcia City Council participates in this forum, which is a meeting point and debate between students, teachers, employment technicians and local development, explaining the Murcia 2020 city strategy and the five models in which it is integrated: territorial, social, cultural, intelligent and productive, with which it tries to obtain a referring municipality in development and sustainability "has emphasized Jesus Pacheco.

Likewise, the participatory process carried out to arrive at this city model has been presented, together with the City's Social Council and consultations with the residents of the municipality.

In the second block, the urban development strategy has been highlighted, exposing the different lines of work and the projects included in it, such as Murcia Río or the interventions that are being carried out in the neighborhoods of Carmen and La Paz, framed in the Urban DNA project.

They have also explained the actions of recovery of heritage, how the old prison or the expansion of the interpretation center of Santa Eulalia, as well as the pedestrianization of Alfonso X, whose first phase has already concluded.

In addition, the implementation of the bicycle lanes included in the Action Plan of the bicycle and the rehabilitation of modules one and two of the Artillery Barracks have been highlighted.

The Department of Modernization of the Administration and Urban Development directed by José Guillén, has presented the Murcia Smart City Strategic Plan, included in the 2020 City Strategy, among which is MiMurcia.

The technological development of the city of Murcia, in terms of infrastructure, establishment of channels and new forms of connectivity, is defined in the Smart City project 'MiMurcia', beneficiary of the 'II Call for Smart Cities' of the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda of the Government of Spain, with a budget of 8 million euros.

"Our concept of Smart City is to put technological advances at the service of people to improve their quality of life, we try to bring public administration closer to neighbors and cover all their demands in a direct and personalized way. it is open and sustainable, "said José Guillén.

In this sense, in addition to the MiMurcia project as a core element in the development of an intelligent city platform, other initiatives have been launched, such as the creation of the Single Monitoring Center (CEUS), which is a differentiating and innovative element of the project. Smart Murcia and will be located in the municipal building of Abenarabi Avenue.

With the application of 'big data' to all the information collected and centralized in CEUS, more efficient and effective decisions will be made.

CEUS will be the nerve center of the beat of the smart city, control room of the city, management of control panels and crisis room, as well as a center of attention and demonstration to the citizens of the 'smart' technologies and e-Administration 3.0.
