The Moneo building hosted this morning the celebration of the Board of Directors of Mercamurcia, the reference agro-alimentary logistic distribution center in south-east Spain.
The work meeting was chaired by Mayor José Ballesta and it was informed about the increase in the slaughter volume of the Meat Complex, especially in cattle, with an increase of more than 5%, mainly due to the increase in exports to other countries.
It is worth highlighting the positive figures that have been presented in all the activities of the Food Unit until the month of September.
There has also been an increase of 1.12% in the Fruit and Vegetable Market, 5.08% in the Fish Market and 4.06% in the accumulated units sold in the Market of Flowers and Plants.
Continuing with the fulfillment of the double objective of energy saving and environmental sustainability, the contract for the supply and installation of lighting with low consumption LED technology has been awarded in the lighting network of the Fruit and Vegetable Market pavilions.
With this contracting, progress is made in the Energy Efficiency Plan of the company, as foreseen in the Annual Operating Plan 2018.
In another vein, the Council has also approved the signing of a Collaborative Framework Agreement with the University-Enterprise Foundation of the Region of Murcia and ENAE Business School, with the aim of actively promoting Mercamurcia as a center of excellence. Training and Knowledge among the interest groups of the agri-food sector, promoting the company as a benchmark in the promotion of business development, the promotion of business innovation, as well as the scientific and technical training of postgraduates and training in the field of company, contributing to the development of the economy and society through the promotion of these activities in the business area of ​​its area of ​​influence.
