Murcia attracts 5,000 people as national capital of rhythmic gymnastics from tomorrow to Sunday (07/11/2018)

José Ballesta: "This first level sports event is a unique opportunity to promote the Murcia brand and an important economic stimulus for the municipality."

The best sets of absolute level will be measured in the tapestry of the Palace of Sports to achieve the Queen Sofia Cup on Sunday, November 11.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, the Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, the president of the Federation of Gymnastics of the Region of Murcia, Mari Angeles Diaz, presented today the Championship of Spain Rhythmic Gymnastics Base Sets, the Cup Individual Base and the Final Phase of the Spanish Cup of Sets Murcia, a sporting event that hosts the Sports Palace from Thursday Thursday until Sunday, December 11, and that will bring together about 5,000 people in the capital.

The coordinator of the event, Pablo Guzmán, sponsors, volunteers and representatives and athletes from Murcia clubs were present.

After successfully celebrating the Spanish Absolute Championships in 2016, Murcia will once again become the national capital of rhythmic gymnastics during these four days in which the municipality prepares to receive around 5,000 people among athletes (exactly registered 3,332). all Spanish communities, technicians, judges and family members.

In this sense, José Ballesta said that "this first level sports event is a unique opportunity to promote the Murcia brand and an important economic stimulus for the municipality, fulfilling our commitment to organize in Murcia, at least once a month, a an event of great magnitude, whether sporting, cultural or leisure, thus increasing tourist traffic also during the low season ".

The mayor stressed that "we are enormously proud of the Murcia clubs and gymnasts that carry the name of Murcia throughout Spain, rising to the podium in the various national competitions and, on this occasion, will have the opportunity to demonstrate their highest level in the tapestry of the Palace of Sports of Murcia ".

At the foot of the track and streaming

Family, friends and fans will crowd the stands of the Sports Palace, which has a capacity of 7,500 people, with the expectation that the 'No tickets' poster will be hung.

Also, the championship will be followed by streaming, with a planned audience of 50,000 spectators.

The competition will begin tomorrow, Thursday, November 8, with the Individual Base Cup.

In it, each Federation can register up to five gymnasts per category (youngest, juvenile, infant, cadet and juvenile), with ages between 8 and 20 years of age.

The modality of base sets will start on Friday, November 9, with the categories pre-benjamín, benjamín, alevín and infantil and will end on Saturday, November 10, with the cadet and juvenile categories.

More than two thousand gymnasts between 7 and 20 years old will compete to win the national title of base sets.

The sporting event will come to an end on Sunday, November 11 with the third and final phase of the Spanish Cup of Sets.

The best sets of absolute level will be measured in the tapestry of the Palace of Sports with the aim of achieving the Queen Sofia Cup.

In this competition each Federation can register a maximum of two sets per category (alevín, infantil, junior, senior and first category) and there will be three classifications: classification by categories, classification by autonomies and final general classification by autonomies.

Murcia representation

The Region of Murcia will be represented in the individual base mode by 25 gymnasts from the following clubs: San Javier, Rhythmic Carthago, Cronos, Alcázar, Yecla, City of Cehegín, Spiralia, Molinense, Cordillera and Rhythmic Cartagena.

In the modality of base sets, 26 are the Murcian teams that will fight to climb to the top of the podium.

They are from the following clubs: Cartagena, Molina, Cronos, Carthago, Torre Pacheco, Cehegin, Alcantarilla, Santomera, Aire, Spiralia, Cordillera, Torre Pacheco, Alcazar, Judesa, Torres de Cotillas, Archena.

In the Final Phase of the Spanish Cup of Sets there are three clubs from Murcia: The Gymnos'85, Rhythmic Santomera and Cronos.
