The UCAM restarts its Debate Club with the sale of arms to Saudi Arabia (05/11/2018)

The Debate Club of the Catholic University of Murcia has resumed its activity with an opening ceremony.

Pablo Blesa, vice chancellor of International Relations and Communication, participated in the event;

Beatriz Correyero, vice-dean of the Degree in Journalism;

Enrique Arroyas, coordinator in this degree, along with more than 40 students attached to the Club.

Pablo Blesa declared that "this is an activity born of the impulse of the students." The students attend to train in parliamentary oratory: a hard sport that consists of knowing how to order the ideas to throw them intelligently at your adversary.We know that it is a skill highly valued in the work environment. "

The teams of the Debate Club of the UCAM have won a good track record in a short time: semifinalists of the World Debate Championship (CMUDE 2017);

individual semifinalist of the World Debate Championship (CMUDE 2017. Verónica Salinas);

winners of the UAM 2016 tournament in novice modality (Salinas y García);

"We are very proud of our successes," says Vice Chancellor Blesa, "it is up to the new batch of speakers this year to continue widening the trophy cabinets."

Julia Adriana Espadas López and María Sánchez Fernández, Law and Communication students, will lead the Club this year.

In the first inaugural session the two students held an exhibition.

The Debate Club of the UCAM is a free activity in which its members meet every fortnight.

The University will finance the participation of the best students in the Spanish and international championships.

Students who make up the Debate Club will be given a diploma at the end of the academic year.
