The Murcia Club de Tenis 1919, Spanish Team Champion for the first time in its history (03/11/2018)

The Murcia Tennis Club 1919 has been proclaimed, for the first time in its history, champion of Spain by teams after prevailing in the final at CT Barcino (4-3) in an unforgettable day for the Murcian club and regional sport.

The Murcia Club de Tenis 1919 players have signed the last two doubles matches, to achieve, in this way, the first title in the Spanish Team Championship, which on this occasion has celebrated its 49th edition in the facilities of the enclosure Murcia

To date, the club Murcia had a runner-up, harvested in 1972.

The historic formation of Murcia Tennis Club 1919 has been represented in this tournament by the players Alessandro Gianessi, Mario Vilella, Carlos Boluda, Ivan Gakhov, David Perez, David Vega, Ricardo Villacorta and Nico Almagro, captained by Florencio Soto and Juan Antonio Marín .

In the duel of numbers 1, the Italian of the Murcia Club of Tennis, Alessandro Gianessi, has fallen to the Argentine Marco Trungelliti (6-2 and 6-2), setting the final for the CT Barcino.

However, the victory of Ivan Gakhov over Steven Diez (7-6 and 6-1) has left the Murcian team to a point of equalizing the tie.

With 3-2 in favor for the CT Barcino, the final was decided in the two doubles matches.

First, Almagro / Gakhov have been imposed by a double 6-2 to Lopez / Trungelliti.

Subsequently, Vega / Perez defeated Diez / López (6-4 and 7-6), giving the title to the Murcia Tennis Club 1919.
