The organs will sound in Murcia every month (10/10/2018)

The churches of San Miguel, Las Anas, San Juan de Dios, Santa Eulalia and El Carmen, together with the Hermitage of the Virgen de la Huerta, will host this new series of concerts on the third Thursday of each month, starting next week.

In November the IV International Cycle of Murcia Organ will be held in the Cathedral.

The Councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, Jesús Pacheco, presented this morning two initiatives, developed in collaboration with the Merklin Association of Friends of the Organ of the Region of Murcia, which will allow Murcia to enjoy the sound of organs every month until next summer.

Next week is born the new cycle 'The Organs in Murcia sound', with the aim of responding to the growing demand for concerts of this instrument that is appreciated in the city, encouraging that 'there is always an offer of quality music and they can know, listen and appreciate the different organs that exist in our churches, "explained Pacheco.

For this, it will be freely accessible and will be especially dedicated to the young public, with attractive programs for them.

This cycle, composed in this first edition for eight recitals, was born with a vocation for continuity and seeks to hold an organ concert each month in one of the existing ones in the municipality, always with outstanding performers at regional, national and international level .

Thus, the selected instruments are:

- Great Merklin Organ of the Cathedral of Murcia (1857)

- Organ of the Church of San Miguel (2017)

- Organ of the Church of the Convent of Dominicas de Murcia de Santa Ana (1763)

- Organ of the Church of Santa Eulalia de Murcia (Final s.XX)

- Organ of the Hermitage of the Virgen de la Huerta (Los Ramos) 2005

The Councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, Jesus Pacheco, has indicated that "various actions held previously have shown that the regional landscape of the Region of Murcia, and more specifically in the city of Murcia, is changing, is a great cultural attractiveness and is creating a great interest towards the music of this instrument ".

The program has been made possible thanks to the collaboration between the Merklin Association of Friends of the Organ, the City of Murcia, the Institute of Cultural Industries and the Arts, the University of Murcia, the ONCE, the CajaMurcia Foundation and the Cabildo de the Cathedral of Murcia.
