The PSOE blames the PP of wanting to end the Malecón's dissuasive parking and blames it for the traffic chaos that users suffer (20/09/2018)

Councilor Juan Vicente Larrosa asks "what does the government team have against this parking lot and the thousands of people who use it" and the Socialists fear that it will be "the ultimate goal" to close this space located near the center and in which half of its 500 seats have already been lost

Laps and more laps to park, difficulties even to access the parking lot and people jumping over the fence to follow their path on foot.

The panorama in the Malecón's dissuasive parking area is being damaged this week as a result of the works that are being carried out to enable access to the Segura River river promenade.

This project has already caused several hundred squares to be lost in this esplanade, practically half of the half thousand that it had - there are many more in rotation - and these spaces will not be recovered so that drivers can leave their vehicles.

The problem arises already before accessing the site, because one of the two accesses that there was, specifically the entrance, has been closed and that forces the drivers to enter and exit by the same step, which in the future will be widened, but that to this day is clearly insufficient.

This is causing a major circulatory collapse despite the fact that there is a Local Police agent regulating traffic.

Once in the esplanade, it is difficult to find a space because the number of seats has been reduced considerably and this increases the traffic jam.

To make matters worse, as declared by the Local Police, non-accredited people who operate in the area trying to facilitate parking in exchange for some currency are "boycotting" the works, something they do by changing the signs of place and tearing off the stickers that warn of the parking ban.

This has caused several vehicles have been enclosed between the fences that have been placed in the bounded areas to carry out the access road to the river and which are at both ends of the parking lot, both the one that borders the Malecón as the which is closest to the Artillery Barracks- and on the entire side of the highway.

Likewise, people who go on foot encounter the problem of fences and are forced to go back on their steps or jump over these fences, with the risk that this entails for their physical integrity.

"This is the largest parking lot near the center and many users will be affected. A few days ago it was closed to organize a concert scheduled at the September Fair and now we find this, What we asked ourselves is what the Mayor Ballesta's government team has against this parking lot and its thousands of users, "says socialist councilor Juan Vicente Larrosa.

"We fear that the ultimate goal of this action is to end parking with the upheaval that this will generate in the thousands of Murcia and thousands of Murcia, as well as visitors, who use it on a daily basis," laments the mayor of the PSOE .
