Serrano focuses on putting in place institutional measures that "facilitate the integration and coexistence" of immigrants (11/08/2018)

The mayoral candidate for the PSOE, in an act held at the Consulate of Ecuador, highlights the "social and economic contribution" made by a town that has come from afar and that adds 45,000 inhabitants to the Region, most of them in Murcia and Lorca

José Antonio Serrano was present at the celebration of the 209th Anniversary of the First Cry of Independence of Ecuador, an event held at the headquarters of the Consulate of this country in Murcia and attended by the Socialist councilor in the City Council of the capital Maite Espinosa, the Secretary of Immigration in the Municipal Executive, Elizabeth Llanos, and the Equality, María José Partera.

The socialist representatives have spoken with Ecuadorian residents in Murcia, many of them since more than two decades, as is the case of the consul, Jeanneth Patricio Sosa, and have listened to the message sent through a video by its president, Lenín Moreno .

"It has been an endearing act in which the rights of the Ecuadorian people have been vindicated," he said, alluding to a historical event that took place on August 10, 1809 in Quito and that changed the history of this nation with many people today. they live in the Region.

Not in vain, it is the Latin American country with more residents in the Autonomous Community, about 45,000, most of which reside in the municipalities of Murcia and Lorca, as Sosa has recalled.

The PSOE, which has been widely represented in the Consulate of Ecuador, is far from oblivious to the concerns and needs of migrants, a hallmark of its integrating policy.

"It is important to acknowledge the social and economic contribution that those citizens who have come from far away and who have even extended their families in our land have made and continue to make to the Region," said Serrano, who stresses the importance of "advancing in putting march institutional measures that facilitate integration and coexistence ", since it considers justice that" the people who live and work in our municipality and in our Region feel the appreciation they deserve and fully enjoy their rights. "

"We must not forget that Spain, throughout history, has been a country of emigrants and society in general and the political class in particular we must have a more responsible and humane attitude towards those who come from outside to integrate between us, "said the candidate for the Mayor of Murcia by the PSOE.
